BANFF, AB—After years of speculation by residents, it has finally been confirmed that the face that is often visible on Cascade Mountain from the Banff townsite is Johnny Bravo’s, star of the 1997 Hanna-Barbera animated series that bears his name.
Johnny Bravo edged out Vanilla Ice by 10 per cent in a referendum organized by the township. However, the polling was controversial. Naysayers claimed the face was Chandler Bing from the hit sitcom Friends. Another faction claimed the face was Fido Dido, a character used in soft drink advertisements since the late 1980s.
“When I was younger, when I first moved here, the face was always Vanilla Ice. But that was the early 2000s and I don’t think anyone was outfitted to make good decisions then. At any point in time,” said Bron McQuagis, 43.
The controversy was brought to an end when Jennifer Bimmery, the reclusive artist responsible for the face came forward. “Johnny Bravo, 100%,” said Jennifer Bimmery. “I didn’t spend over 40 hours swinging from a rope off Cascade with a jackhammer for people to mistake Johnny for that soul patch lamebrain.”
More to come.
